I know it's weird to like a show produced by Sci-Fi, erm, Syfy (gag), but the mad scientist in me likes Eureka, so I can't wait for the last part of Season 3 to air this summer. (I hope they give it a season 4.)

In all truth, I''ve never watched it. Why's it so good?

It's just a Star-Trek-ish-formulaic sort of sitcom where crazy mad science occurs, then the one guy in the town who isn't the scientist generally figures out what caused it, and it's resolved by the end of the show. Meanwhile small pieces of other sub-plots are revealed throughout season-spanning story arcs.
I just like it because it's fun, it doesn't take itself too seriously, and if you watch them out of order you aren't hopelessly confused, since the spanning plots aren't generally the main ones.
I would compare it mostly to something like Star Trek or Doctor Who, with a few strands of X-files. Except that it isn't really quite as "full of portent" as most of those seemed to be at times.

Hmmm. I do love me some good portent. But still...it sounds cool. I'll see if I can get the discs.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: EUReKA is the best thing on Syfy Sci-Fi, and it was even before Battlestar Galactica ended. I tend to liken the humor to Quantum Leap with respect to the fact that Sheriff Carter always finds himself in one of those "Oh, boy!" situations before the opening title sequence and then spends the rest of the episode trying to figure it out. It's amusing that Science is so adept at generating every problem this little town has ever had, but it always lies on the shoulders of Sheriff Carter—the least Science-minded mammal in the entire town—to pull their collective fat out of the fire.

Love EUReka. It does have a bit of the formula, but they have a lot of longstanding character archs that make the show worth while.
And I love S.A.R.A.H. - and that she's on Twitter.

I haven't seen and posts from her on Twitter for awhile.
Hehe, we need a S_A_R_A_H and GLaDOS confrontation.

It's like Massive Dynamics from Fringe had a sense of humor, put all their cool and wacky scientists in one place, and let them run amok.

Apparently (or so my inept lackeys report) the new episodes begin 9:00 pm on July 10 (2009, for the time travel impaired).
