This has been a bit of fun over lunch:  http://www.legendsofzork.com.

it's not incredibly Zork-like, but it's not a bad time. And it has a social component.

Oh wow, that looks fun, thanks for the link!

Ok I made a character, but 14 characters was not long enough for the name I wanted. http://legendsofzork.com/heroes/26297-k-nickelplate

I'm there as well:

http://legendsofzork.com/heroes/295-nukehavoc

I mucked about with it about two weeks ago. It's a fun diversion, but disappointingly un-Zork-like in many ways. Further thoughts over on Nuketown.

One thing that's changed since I wrote this is that they added the ability to actually *find* people, which is really something you want to have in a social dungeoncrawl.  I wish they were doing more with the "quest" mechanic; you can join a group and then go off and kill stuff, but it's all random, with no player input (I'd settle for a simple voting process about whether to go left or right, attack or flee).

I'm enjoying Tiny Adventures in Facebook more (http://apps.facebook.com/tinyadventures/)

I agree that it's un-Zork-like, but I'm not sure how they could make it Zork-like without making it a totally different game.

I am still playing this, kind of, and still not enthusiastic about it.
It reminds me almost exactly of a Facebook game app.
